REFURBISHMENT OF DAVID LLOYDS WICKWOODS

Refurbishment of

David LLoyds Wickwoods

February 2025

The Brief

This was an existing club that needed modernisation. The works were to take place in a live environment over 2 stages. The 1st phase was to modernise the gymnasium, changing rooms, spin studio, pool, sauna and jacuzzi.  It was a particularly difficult project as the buildings were old and had been added to sporadically over the years – with no real thought behind the additional installations.

We were asked to take out walls in the gymnasium to make a larger, more open planned space. This involved a lot of propping for the roof and removal of wall. Padstones were put in place alongside new beams to support the roof. New flooring was installed, along with a new ceiling. We also upgraded the electrics and air conditioning and re-decorated general areas.

The changing rooms were made bigger, along with new showers, lockers and toilets. All walls and floors were tiled.

A spin studio was formed in part of the old treatment room with acoustics, electrics and air-conditioning.

Finally, the spa area was completely modernized with new tiling in all areas, including the pool and steam room. We also installed a new sauna with Himalayan salt blocks.
